Moving through the stalls, your chauffeur guides you towards the finest local producers — olives, herbs, goat's cheese, tapenade, Provençal honey — for tastings directly at the market, far from any tourist trap.
The morning concludes with a sacred stop: tasting the Tarte Tropézienne at the original bakery, a secret recipe created in 1955, right on the Place des Lices. An unforgettable sweet memory to take home.

The Soul of the Market
Place des Lices
The beating heart of Saint-Tropez · Always has been
Provençal Market · Year-Round · Genuine Local Experience
"Beneath century-old plane trees, Saint-Tropez rediscovers its most authentic soul"
The Place des Lices is far more than a market — it is Saint-Tropez's living room. Every day of the week, pétanque players hold court here. But on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, the plane trees witness hundreds of vendors setting up in an explosion of Provençal colour and fragrance.
You will find market gardeners from the Golfe with their heritage tomatoes, cheese makers ripening their fresh goat's cheeses in olive oil, beekeepers with their garrigue honeys, cured meats and herb-marinated olives. This is where the best restaurants in the region do their shopping.
Tuesday is particularly recommended: less busy than Saturday, it attracts more locals and direct producers, for a more genuine and relaxed immersion.

A Must-Taste Gourmet Stop
La Tarte Tropézienne
The original bakery · Place des Lices · Founded in 1955
Secret Recipe · Created by Alexandre Micka · 1955
"The most famous brioche on the Côte d'Azur, born from a jealously kept secret"
In 1955, a young Polish pastry chef, Alexandre Micka, set up his bakery on the Place des Lices. He prepared a family recipe: a golden brioche filled with a light cream scented with orange blossom water. Brigitte Bardot, filming And God Created Woman in Saint-Tropez that summer, fell in love with it and suggested the name: the Tarte Tropézienne.
The recipe has remained a closely guarded secret for 70 years. The original bakery still stands on the Place des Lices, right beside the market — the most delicious stop of the day.
